Support diabetes Clothesline

The Canadian Diabetes Association's Clothesline® program is asking for the public's assistance in donating reusable clothing and household items in the Olds area.

The Canadian Diabetes Association's Clothesline® program is asking for the public's assistance in donating reusable clothing and household items in the Olds area.

Items suitable for donation include reusable clothing, footwear, bedding, linens and draperies of any size and style.

The Clothesline® dropboxes can be found at the Olds Recycling Centre, 4920 49 Ave., and can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week for your convenience.

One hundred per cent of net proceeds from donations support the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) and diabetes research, education, programs and advocacy.

Over the last 40 years, the CDA has funded $130 million in world-leading Canadian research that has contributed to the development of new treatments and devices, ways to prevent type 2 diabetes and search for a cure.

The Clothesline® program has been operating across Canada since 1985. Each year, more than 46 million kilograms of clothing, household and electronic items are diverted from Canadian landfills.

Additionally, Clothesline® saves 840 million kWh of energy and reduces our donors' carbon footprint by 115 million kilograms of CO2 emissions. This is equivalent to saving 8.2 million trees each year.

In 2015, the association diverted more than 46 million kilograms of clothing that may have otherwise ended up in our landfills.

Help us spread the message to reduce our nation's waste.
