Thieves deserve the bah humbug

With all of these stolen Christmas lights around Sundre I wonder where the spirit of Christmas has gone. Christmas is supposed to be a time for giving, for thinking of others and cherishing your loved ones.

With all of these stolen Christmas lights around Sundre I wonder where the spirit of Christmas has gone.

Christmas is supposed to be a time for giving, for thinking of others and cherishing your loved ones. When has it become a time of selfishness and pitiful acts?

These Scrooges should not be weighing down the spirit of Christmas in Sundre. I don't like seeing them discouraging people to decorate for the season.

These thieves are most likely stealing the lights for a few reasons. One, they think it's funny and don't have anything better to do. Two, they haven't had good experiences with Christmas and don't feel like anyone else deserves to enjoy it.

At this point, I don't believe they are stealing them because they can't afford their own. There are too many kind people in Sundre willing to help out with those unfortunate issues.

I believe these thieves are enjoying getting a rise out of the citizens. And they are taking it as a joke and for attention.

I just want to say to the thief or thieves that if these unsavoury acts are your way of showing how you really just don't like Christmas, then don't try and take the spirit away from everyone else. You will soon figure out Christmas brings a special magic that is too powerful to be broken by disrespectful children.

I am not necessarily saying the thief or thieves are children but I am referring to them as children because even if they aren't, they are sure acting as such and that's how they deserve to be treated.

Personally, I love the holiday season. I love feeling the spirit, seeing the lights, the decorations, the smiles, the giving, the love, the colours, the snowfalls, the frosted trees, the presents, the baking, hearing the festive music and so much more.

We should never forget how exciting Christmas was when we were growing up; how you could never get to sleep on Christmas Eve because of the devious plan going through your racing mind of trying to see Santa Claus.

I remember being so happy to leave cookies and milk out for Santa, as well as carrots for his reindeer.

Waking up on Christmas morning was always the best feeling, seeing presents under the tree and knowing he came. It felt like the best day in history.

Now, Christmas for me is still as exciting as ever. The best part is seeing the reaction on my loved ones' faces when they open their presents. I love giving and it's the best time of the year because it provides an excuse to be able to do so.

I am really looking forward to spending Christmas with my family, my friends, my pets, my boyfriend and his loving family.

Christmas is here and why don't we all embrace and enjoy it. There have been too many tragedies occurring in the world. Life is a gift. We should be hugging the ones we love and holding them close to our hearts.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas, Sundre!
