On behalf of the organizers of the Olds and Innisfail Oilfield Support Rally, I would like to thank you for your coverage leading up to and on the day of our event.
We appreciate your time and consideration. Your reporter Kristine Jean provided accurate and concise information and reporting for which we are grateful.
Our only concern was with the front page picture that ran with our Oilfield Support Rally. The picture that you chose shows persons along the highway route, wearing yellow vests and displaying the signs that are often associated with their causes.
We are truly grateful for all the support we received along the rally route (including those in your picture) and in our towns. However our rally and message was put together to specifically address oil and gas concerns and not to reiterate the message of other groups such as yellow vests.
We are concerned that your choice to use this specific picture dilutes the singular focus of our rally to get oil and gas workers back to work and ties our message and public perception of our initiative to the yellow vests.
I have provided photographs for your review and am hoping you could run this to show our appreciation to our local community members who attended strictly in support of oil and gas and the impact to our communities.
As you can see there are no visible yellow vests in attendance at our rally starting point. Although those in attendance at our rally may be in agreement with other forces of change, our focus that day and these days is solely to emphasize our concerns as oil and gas service companies.
