OLDS — The featured artist of this year's Olds Art Club’s 2020 spring show and sale says its postponement will give him time to continue creating.
The Olds Art Club’s 2020 spring show and sale, slated to be held at the end of March was postponed due to measures enacted to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Club president Cindy Boffey is hopeful it can be held in June instead.
“Who knows what’s going on? Everything’s up in the air,” she said during an interview.
Boffey said she’s disappointed the show had to be postponed, but she’s even more disappointed for longtime club member Dr. Dick Wray, who was slated to be the featured artist for the event.
“He’s 90 years old this year and we had a big party and all that planned for him,” she said.
“I talked to him about it,” she added. “I said, ‘you know, we really want to have the best show possible for you and want a good turnout of people.'
“But I said ‘I think kind of in light of what’s going on (here) and everywhere else, maybe it would be wise and be respectful to just call it off at the moment.’”
Wray says he’s OK with the postponement.
“It’s alright. I’ve still got it all ready to go,” he said.
In the meantime, “I’ll get a few more pictures done,” he said with a light laugh.
