SHERBROOKE, Que. — Cole Huckins, Joshua Roy and Jacob Melanson scored third-period goals and Olivier Adam stopped all 22 shots fired at him, as the Sherbrooke Phoenix outbattled the visiting Halifax Mooseheads 3-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action on Saturday.
The game was scoreless until Huckins' goal at 6:02 of the third. Roy made it 2-0 at 10:18 and Melanson scored into an empty net with 55 seconds left on the clock to ice the victory for the Phoenix (39-12-3-2), who started the week listed No. 6 in the Canadian Hockey League's top 10 rankings.
With the win, the Phoenix moved into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of the idle Gatineau Olympiques.
