Woman found dead in Montreal's Pointe-aux-Trembles neighbourhood, man arrested

Montreal police say a man has been arrested after a woman in her 30s was found dead from an apparent stabbing in the city's east end this morning. Police did not confirm whether the two knew each other. Police say they were called at around 7:50 a.m.

Montreal police say a man has been arrested after a woman in her 30s was found dead from an apparent stabbing in the city's east end this morning.

Police did not confirm whether the two knew each other. 

Police say they were called at around 7:50 a.m. to an apartment on Sherbrooke St. in the city's Pointe-aux-Trembles neighbourhood.

They found the woman, who had been stabbed with a sharp object.

The victim could not be revived and was declared dead on the scene. 

A security perimeter was erected around the scene, and police said they would deploy a mobile command post to the area.
