Small town dentistry does not have to mean limited options for dental care. Day Dental has long prided itself on offering an extensive range of options for their patients, from the youngest patient's first visit to the dentist, to those managing the transition to dentures and implants. No matter the age or situation, all are welcome at this friendly clinic, which has been a mainstay of Innisfail since opening in 2012.
Their mission statement is to continually offer the freedom and education to their patients to make the best informed decisions about dental care. These options include everything from children's dentistry, Invisalign, dental surgery (including wisdom teeth and implants), root canals, Botox therapy, among many others. Their friendly receptionists help navigate the world of insurance and financing options, ensuring that proper care is available to all. Since day one, their clinic continues to accept new patients.
Dr. Isaac Day opened the practice in 2012, after completing his training at the University of Alberta with his brother, Dr. Jacob Day. Isaac previously worked in a cosmetic practice in Edmonton, as well as a more family centred clinic in Olds. He was even able to serve the complex needs of the inmates at Bowden Penitentiary, which enhanced his appreciation of the need for excellent dental surgical care. Tammy Thomspon, office manager, was the first employee. Isaac's brother Jacob, joined the growing practice in 2013.
The benefit of having worked in these different capacities is the experience of serving all dental patients, no matter their complex needs.
Dr. Jacob points out, "we continually strive to offer the best dental options to our patients. In a small town like ours, many patients would prefer to not go to the city if the same level of care is available here at home. Our experience allows us to meet this need, or at least provide the professional direction to get there. Nothing makes us happier than to build relationships of trust by showing that competent, professional care is available to all in our community".
Dr. Isaac adds, "we also believe in providing the many advantages of dental technology to our patients. It is constantly changing and improving. What was once considered a luxury in the past is now available at our practice. Sedation dentistry can help anxious patients at every age. Even patients who have poor fitting dentures can regain chewing stability and confidence with implants. We also have a state of the art lab where dental crowns are milled using artifical intelligence (AI) and dental models are 3D printed".
With a strong commitment to offering the most modern, accessible and convenient service, Day Dental offers direct billing to insurance companies, extended evening hours, open Saturdays, provides free parking, has TVs in every room and a coffee/water bar in the lounge. In addition to their passion for dentistry, the team has a strong community focus.
"We are local people, serving our friends and neighbours," explains Tammy. "We support and volunteer for many projects in our community. I am the past president of The Innisfail Rotary Club and have been very involved in our community for many years. Isaac raised $20,000 for the Friends of the Red Deer Regional Hospital by participating in a dance off competition on 2019."
The practice also supports minor sports in Innisfail (through their complimentary sportsguard program), the annual fall festival, annual Pride festival, Lantern festival, Rotary's golf tournament and Stanley Cup day, Helping Hands fund, Kinette's Dinner of Diamonds and Innisfail Community Facility Enhancement (Diamond 7 project) - along with various Kinsmen projects, silent auctions, and many more.
"We support as many local businesses, and patient's businesses, as possible," says Tammy.
The doctors love building relationships in the community they serve. "Getting to know the people in our community and catching up; being able to say, "how did the wedding go? You're graduating this year, how exciting...' we are lucky enough to be part of people's lives."
The Days continue with what they love about owning a business in Innisfail, saying, "We love the excitement, the buzz and the energy. The town feels energized and ready to grow. All local business will say, "shop local, support local, hire local" and we live this value as the only dentists that work, and live, in town. We are big believers in supporting local, being present and doing what we can, when we can."
The Days conclude, "The best recognition is when we meet someone new in the office who says, 'I am here because you treated my family member or friend so well.' It doesn't get better than that! When patients come to our office because of a referral from a current patient, that is the best recognition. Going forward, we will continue doing what we love. We've planted our roots here in Innisfail."
