A stay at David Thompson Resort means you are participating in its long and ongoing history. The resort is named after David Thompson. He was an English-Canadian explorer and cartographer who is best known for mapping much of western North America, especially the area that is now Western Canada. Born in 1770, Thompson worked as a fur trader for both the Hudson’s Bay Company and the North West Company. During his time in North America, he explored much of the continent, becoming one of the first Europeans to encounter many Indigenous peoples and cultures. Thompson's maps were invaluable in the development of the fur trade and westward expansion of Canada. His legacy as a skilled cartographer and explorer continues to be celebrated in Canada today.
The impact of David’s work has stood the test of time and it is only fitting that the resort bears his name. The spirit of adventure and exploration along with the deep-seated reverence for nature is felt in every aspect of the resort. Each campsite, structure, meal, and event pay homage to the beauty – and comfort – of nature.
Come to relax, explore, celebrate, or indulge. Whatever your reasons, you will never be disappointed by your stay at David Thompson Resort.
