Imagine a cozy shop that is filled with delicious, locally grown and locally made grocery products and has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere – somewhere that has the look and feel of an old-fashioned farm stand. The Farm Table, a specialty food market located in Carstairs, is exactly that. They bring together many local vendors in order to offer their customers the best selection of locally produced grocery products possible.
“We are a consignment-based store that offers small local businesses a place to sell their products without having to open a storefront of their own,” explains Robbi Spady, owner of The Farm Table.
Wide Range of Specialty Grocery Products
The Farm Table works closely with multiple vendors in order to offer their customers an incredibly diverse and interesting selection of products. They carry a wide range of farm fresh vegetables, meat, baked goods and handmade home décor items. They also offer fresh soup served daily for lunch.
“Our store is made up of over 65 different vendors that shelve and stock their products here,” says Robbi. “We have the freshest produce from The Honest Box and Shirley's Greenhouse. Fresh angus beef cuts are delivered every week from The Angus Store in Innisfail.”
Customers can expect to find a wide selection of beautifully curated products at The Farm Table including items like pre-made meals, frozen pizza, kombucha, snack foods, sauces, coffee and desserts. Everything is locally produced and of the highest quality.
As the weather warms, The Farm Table is set to offer D Dutchmen Dairy’s famous ice cream by the scoop. They also carry D Dutchmen Dairy’s delicious milk and chocolate milk in classic glass bottles.
Inspired by Community
It was her love of community that inspired Robbi to open The Farm Table in 2020. “Our goal is to connect our community with the amazing local people we have in the area that grow and make incredible food and other products. Our focus is to help small businesses succeed by working together to provide our community with an amazing selection,” she says.
Robbi shares her success with her valued vendors. “Seeing many of our vendors grow has been a great reward,” she says. “When we collaborate, we can celebrate all of each other’s successes.”
Supporting Local Community Groups
Not only does The Farm Table support local vendors, but they also support local community groups. Every three months, The Farm Table chooses a new charity to contribute to. “We have our Farm Table merchandise that includes mugs, hoodies, hats and bags. With the purchase of any of these items, we give $5 to a charity,” explains Robbi. So far, The Farm Table has been able to contribute to the Mountain View Food Bank, Hope 4 MVC Kids, and The Friends of the Carstairs Library.
Shared Success
Robbi attributes the success of The Farm Table to a few factors including their loyal customers, their incredible vendors and her wonderful staff. “The warm and friendly atmosphere at The Farm Table set us apart from our competitors. Our staff ensures that they are attentive to every detail, helping our customers and vendors feel like they matter,” she says.
