The Crossing: Where Everyone Has a Seat at the Table

Newly renovated with a new theme and menu, The Crossing is an on-campus pub and restaurant that is run by students but open to all.

The Crossing is more than just a pub on campus. That is where it all started, back in 2002, but just look at how far they have come! It is run by the Student Association of Olds College, and it provides jobs and opportunities for the students and a place to gather for everyone. It’s place to hang out where the food and drink is affordable. You may already know about that; but, what not everyone knows is that just because it is on campus doesn’t mean it is only open to students.

Everyone in the Town of Olds and the surrounding communities are invited to come on in, take a seat and take advantage of the menu and the space. The pub and restaurant have been newly renovated over the summer with a Western Nashville theme to add a little more fun and flavour.

The new western-themed menu is exciting, and the items on it are lower priced to be accessible to students.

“We offer a broad menu of food items ranging from our twist on pub classics to exciting weekly specials,” says Hailey Oliver, Food and Beverage Manager. “There is always something fun to look forward to. Keep an eye out for our daily specials like Taco Tuesday, or Friday Brunch. There will be rodeo parties, open mic night and other events going on almost every week throughout the year.”

The drinks menu is an event in itself! The bar is fully stocked and offers many craft cocktails, a variety of different Caesars, and rotating taps of local and Olds College brews, that is, beers created by past or present students. You are sure to discover something you haven’t tried before.

The Crossing is a comfortable space to spend time in or for a private event.

“We have styled each area of the space to speak to the unique groups of students and professions present on campus and in our community,” continues Oliver.

Spaces include a dining area, games room, stage, and seating area. In-house catering and space rental are offered for events and parties.

“We also offer offsite catering and concession services for any events from weddings and Christmas parties to baseball games,” says Oliver. “Food service can come from our main in-house menu or can be tailored to your event, using your own chef if desired, with custom buffet and dinner options.”

The Crossing is proud of the renovations done over the summer, and confident that everyone will love the new theme and menu. The pub is on campus and is student run which is a big part of making it what it is, but it is a lot more.

“It’s not only for the students,” continues Oliver. “We hope to see more members of the community coming to The Crossing.”

Curious to see for yourself? Take a look at the menu, come on by, and have some of the best food and drink in town. The Crossing is open to all in Olds, on campus and off.
