Town council has approved $30,000 advance budget funding for the Sundre & District Aquatic Society.
The request was made by the society at council's regular meeting on Dec. 3.
“In 2013, the proposed budget says that we will give them $165,000, and of that we will take out $30,000 and pay them,” said Wanda Watson-Neufeld, director of corporate services.
“They've had some changes in their management, and during that fluctuation in not having someone I guess they didn't apply for some of the grants that they expected so they didn't get money that they planned on coming.”
Watson-Neufeld said the aquatic society has confirmed that this is a one-time only request and that administration believes this advance will not hurt the town's finances and won't impact tax rates in 2013.
