Burnstick Lake thief suspect identified

Assistance from the public helped police identify a suspect involved in recent brazen broad daylight thefts from the Burnstick Lake Resort. The unknown male was identified as Sheldon Richard Metcalfe, 46, of Red Deer, according to police.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Sheldon Richard Metcalfe, 46, of Red Deer, who is wanted in relation to numerous recent thefts from the Burnstick Lake area.

Assistance from the public helped police identify a suspect involved in recent brazen broad daylight thefts from the Burnstick Lake Resort.

The unknown male was identified as Sheldon Richard Metcalfe, 46, of Red Deer, according to police. An arrest warrant has been issued for Metcalfe for 13 criminal charges related to thefts in the Burnstick Lake area. It is alleged that he and an unknown individual stole approximately $60,000 of property and goods from several recreational property owners, said Cpl. Joe Mandel in a press release dated Saturday, Nov. 3.

Anyone with information on this crime or the whereabouts of Metcalfe is asked to contact the Sundre RCMP detachment at 403-638-3675 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8777 (TIPS).
