As a fire chief, I always say if it's not broken, don't fix it.
For many years now, the structure in our fire department has been the same.
But with people moving away or getting too busy to fill certain roles and stepping down, I have been challenged to change the structure in our fire department, from lieutenants, training officers, fire prevention officer, to captain.
We have a lot of new as well as senior upcoming firefighters who are eager to fill these positions, and I'm looking forward to readjusting things for the upcoming years.
Nowadays, it seems as though keeping filled all of the positions on a volunteer fire department can be very difficult. After all, everybody has a busy life to fulfil, never mind adding to the equation by holding a position with the fire department, which takes a lot of dedication.
My hat goes off to all of these committed volunteers who I'm confident are up to the challenge. I'm looking forward to a new successful year of changes.
On that note, if anybody is interested in stepping up to be a volunteer firefighter, our doors are always open and your application is welcome.
Thank you
