SUNDRE — Council heard excavation work was expected to be underway at the site of the municipality’s wastewater treatment facility where a functioning, traditional three-cell sewage lagoon system will be enhanced by a new state-of-the-art technology.

Construction on the structure that will house the new technology that as part of its process uses currents of electricity to coagulate – or separate – waste from water, was expected to be getting underway following the Sept. 30 ground-breaking ceremony, Linda Nelson, chief administrative officer, told council during the regular Oct. 17 meeting.

“We should be starting the excavation either end of this week or early next week,” Nelson said at the time, later adding, “It looks like testing should start (in) February.”

Mayor Richard Warnock called the development “exciting” and said the sewage lagoon’s upgrade represents a “plus for our town.”

Council went on to accept Nelson’s report for information.
