Last year’s second annual Sundre Hospital Legacy Gala was well attended. Council carried a motion during the Oct. 1 meeting to again support this year’s fundraiser, which takes place Nov. 10, by way of purchasing tickets.

There was no opposition expressed by any members of council regarding an invitation to support a third annual fundraiser.

“This is a request for the Town of Sundre council to purchase two tables at the Sundre Hospital Legacy Gala,” said Linda Nelson, chief administrative officer, during the Oct. 1 meeting.

The previous council had approved the request, she said. Administration recommended proceeding with the purchase of tickets for two tables of eight at $300 per table for a total of $600 to be drawn from the municipality’s Community Events Donations account.

Last year, members of council personally covered the cost of tickets for anyone accompanying them, she said.

Coun. Rob Wolfe moved the recommended action to give administration approval to buy the tickets for the gala, which takes place Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Sundre Community Centre.

“The understanding is that our spouses and significant others, we get to take them on a date and pay for it, as we should,” said Mayor Terry Leslie just before calling for a vote on the motion, which carried unanimously.
