A 36-year-old woman died west of the Garrington bridge on the weekend after her car went off the roadway.
RCMP did not release the woman’s name and Alberta RCMP Const. Kathleen Fossen said where she was from was also not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Sundre RCMP and emergency service responders were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 587 and Rge. Rd. 43 at approximately 2 p.m. on Sept. 8.
A driver heading westbound on the highway in a 2002 Cadillac Seville lost control and went off the roadway, Fossen said.
A passing motorist called 911, she said.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was ejected, said police, and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Emergency personnel found the woman several feet away from the vehicle, Fossen said.
Police said preliminary investigation suggests she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours as police conducted an investigation.
The cause of the collision has not been determined, said Fossen adding all factors are being considered.
