Four-season campground virtual open house wrapping up

Deadline to submit feedback on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at noon
sundre-news

SUNDRE — The municipality is seeking input regarding the proposed four-season campground and passive use recreation area’s concept plan on the east side of town.

Residents have until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 12 to complete the virtual open house — which was posted on the town’s website on Sept. 30 and advertised on the municipality’s full-page ad in the Sept. 28 edition of The Albertan — and submit feedback to [email protected].

While an open house had originally been planned to happen in the summer, as a result the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person events were held off. There had also previously been other efforts to consult the community.

The eastside campground and passive use recreation area concept plan as well as the concept phasing plans are also available on the town’s website.

Located south and east of Fountain Tire off of Highway 27 running along the bottom of the hill coming into Sundre, the 37.5-acre parcel was previously owned by Les and Lynne McKenzie under a holding company called Ellithorpe Holdings Ltd., which the municipality purchased the land from for less than half of its appraised value.
