Sundre residents undoubtedly noticed some construction, as well as subsequent traffic, on Main Avenue last week.

An Alberta Highway Services crew patched up the “monster pothole” that formed over last winter at the Third Street intersection, said Jim Hall, the municipality’s operations manager.

“They cut out the pavement, re-compacted and put an overlay there so we don’t have that large pothole from last year that was plaguing motorists,” he said.

Additionally, the three mini-roundabouts from Second to Fourth streets also received some attention.

“We are completing some maintenance to the fasteners that hold the plates down as we all know that they keep popping up and the materials are strong enough to hold the heavy loads,” said Hall.

“Crews are going to be installing aluminum fasteners to hold those pads down to the road surface.”

Furthermore, the Fourth Street roundabout’s pads were briefly removed for re-levelling and reinstallation so they sit more flush, he said.
