A group of volunteers has been coming together each week to create various products to donate to people in need.

The group, known as Nimble Fingers, has been meeting at the Sundre Legion every Tuesday for the past five years, where they work on crafts for four hours at a time.

ìWe have different groups that we donate to,î said group member Yvonne Hopkins.

ìWe donate blankets, quilts and children's items to the Woods Home in Calgary,î she said.

The group also donates to Greenwood Neighbourhood Place, to veterans at the Colonel Belcher facility in Calgary and the women's shelter in Red Deer.

ìA group of women that like to do crafts, knitting, sewing, crocheting and this sort of thing, we decided to get together and do this social activity,î she said.

ìWe visit as we work and do our own craft.î

The ladies make everything from quilts, blankets, balls and scarves, to embroidered cards, and more.

ìWhenever somebody has something new to share we invite them to come and do so,î she said.

The newest thing in the group is making Scandinavian mitts and slippers, which one of the ladies brought to the table to share with the others.

They enjoy socializing and sharing ideas and encourage anyone interested to join, she said.
