SUNDRE – After recently reporting a decline in the number of donations for this year’s Sundre Santas program, the community service organization behind the initiative announced there will be no Magic of Christmas Sale this year.
“We regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Magic of Christmas,” wrote Bree Odd, Sundre Santas program director, by email to the Albertan.
The event, which is intended as an opportunity for children to find affordable presents for their family, had been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Sundre Community Centre pending sufficient contributions of lightly used or new gifts.
“Unfortunately, we did not receive enough donations for the sale,” said Odd.
But donations that did come in will be held in reserve for the 2024-25 holiday season.
“We understand how much joy this event brings to children and volunteers alike,” she said.
“However, we want to assure you that all donations made for Magic of Christmas this year will be safely stored and used for next year’s event.”
