A Sundre man voluntarily turned himself in last week after being charged in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the life of an Olds resident, said police.
On Thursday, March 28, the local RCMP detachment charged Jaylan Armstrong, 22, in the Dec. 15, 2018 motor vehicle collision on Highway 27 near Rge. Rd. 44 east of town that resulted in the death of Darryl Hyslop, 39.
The charges stemmed from toxicology results that were completed by the National Forensic Laboratory Services, which analyzed Armstrong’s blood that had been seized by police, with a judicial authorization, from the health-care facilities where the accused was treated following the collision.
Armstrong faces the following charges: impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, as well as operation of a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol causing death, reported police.
On Thursday, April 4, the accused arrived of his own volition at the Sundre detachment, where he was arrested and held to appear before a justice of the peace for a bail hearing.
Armstrong was subsequently released on his own recognizance to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Monday, April 29 to speak to the allegations.
