Police are looking for leads following a midnight break-in at the James River Bridge Store yesterday.

At about 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, the Sundre RCMP detachment received a dispatch of a panic alarm from the general store, located north of town on Highway 584 and Rge. Rd. 52, reads a statement released later that day by Cpl. Joe Mandel.

“Police attended and learned that the alarm was for a glass break at the store,” states the press release.

“A review of the security camera footage showed a dark coloured F150 pickup truck drive onto the property.”

A lone individual wearing dark clothes with a hood exited the pickup truck and walked around the property where he entered a trailer. The suspect then stole several Makita brand power tools from the trailer and passed them along to a second person who was seated in the truck, police reported.

The thief then headed over to the store’s main entrance and smashed out the glass on the door using a sledgehammer. Upon gaining entry to the store, he stole several bottles of liquor and cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

According to a post on store owner James Feuser’s social media page, the thief also stole a climbing harness.

Police are asking anyone with information related to this crime to contact the local detachment at 403-638-3675. Alternatively, people can submit tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-2477 (TIPS).
