SUNDRE - A Sundre man facing a charge of second degree murder following the shooting death of a fellow resident in January will be going to preliminary hearing March 3-5, 2025, say court officials.
Richard Mcculloch, 36, is charged in the death of Justin Goodhand, 36.
Goodhand was shot at a residence northeast of Sundre, say police.
Officers were called to a rural location outside Sundre on Jan. 25 after receiving a report of a man being shot.
“Officers attended and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” police said.
“Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene and the male was transported to local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there is enough evidence to send an accused person to trial.
Mccullouch has elected to be tried by judge and jury.
If convicted of second degree murder, Mccullouch faces a life sentence without eligibility to apply for parole for 10 years.
