Sundre and surrounding area residents have two days left to place their votes for this year's Small Business Awards.

Nominations are now in, and people are encouraged to participate in the online survey, which started Oct. 3 and ends this Thursday, Oct. 12.

"We've already smashed all records for votes," chamber president Mike Beukeboom told the Round Up last week, adding more than 500 votes had been cast as of Thursday.

"We've never come close to that before; people are very interested in it."

Those who take a few moments to vote will see the following categories: best new business; best legacy business (15 years or longer); best in customer service excellence; business of the year (1-10 employees); business of the year (11-plus employees); young entrepreneur of the year (30 and under); farm family and/or farm operation of the year; and employee of the year.

The survey is available online and can be found by doing a search for Sundre small business awards.

The annual Sundre Business Awards night is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 at the Sundre Community Centre, which is a new venue for the event previously held at the Sundre Arts Centre.

"We just needed a bigger space — it's a good problem to have," said Beukeboom, who added the arts centre is a great facility that served well but that there just wasn't enough room to accommodate the event anymore.

Anyone who wants to attend should email [email protected] for information on reserving a table, as seating is limited.

The function offers an opportunity for businesses to come together, raise a glass and toast memories good and bad to celebrate their contributions to the Sundre and area district, said Beukeboom.
