Jaylyn Simpson, from Sundre, recently takes a look at the night sky through a Williams optics refractor. She was among a handful of people who came out for the first stargazing session. Ryan Beck, Sundre High School science teacher and founder of the Sundre Astronomy Club, held the inaugural stargazing event on Aug. 20 behind the high school to offer people an opportunity to see close-ups of the moon’s craters as well as planets such as Saturn. Beck hopes to host another event this month. Check the group’s social media page for updates.
