As of Sunday, portions of the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area were under a high wildfire danger with a fire restriction in place — wood fires on residential properties and in the backcountry or random camping areas are prohibited. They are permitted in designated campgrounds with fire rings.

Although conditions were expected to clear over the weekend, the Parkland Airshed Management Zone, which Sundre is located in, had on Friday an air quality health index rating of 10+, meaning people were urged to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially children and seniors.

As of Monday, there were no fire bans or restrictions in the Town of Sundre or Mountain View County, although restrictions remained in place in Clearwater County for areas including Burnstick Lake and Caroline. Visit www.albertafirebans.ca for the latest updates.
