SUNDRE — After being closed since March due to COVID-19 restrictions, the gates at the Sundre and District Museum’s Pioneer Village were once again swung open last week.
“We will be initiating a phased-in approach with the village to open first, followed by the gallery and World of Wildlife, via pre-booked, guided tours,” Jaime Marr, executive director, wrote in an email last week.
“We have taken steps to ensure visitor and staff safety, and ask that those wishing to visit call us prior to stopping in,” said Marr.
The museum, which can be reached by calling 403-638-3233, was scheduled to open its doors to the public last Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from 1-5 p.m., she said.
“To help create some excitement, we are adding a new element to our pioneer village.”
Visitors will at a cost of $50 have an opportunity to get personalized, black and white pioneer period costume pictures at the museum’s historic village.
The costumes are all sanitized and hand-picked by patrons with assistance from a volunteer photographer, she said.
However, she added that admission will be by donation at this time for those who are looking for a regular village tour.
Anyone who is interested is invited to follow the museum’s social media pages and website, which is frequently updated.
