SUNDRE – The summer season might quickly be slipping by, but there nevertheless remains some time to find some delicious produce plucked fresh from local farms as well as mouthwatering homebaked goods along with unique, handcrafted artisanal items.
The Sundre Farmers’ Market, which is hosted at the local curling club located at 101, 2nd Avenue northwest across the street from Sundre High School, is held weekly on Fridays from 4:30 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 20. However, the market on Sept. 6 will be held outside of the curling rink, which that day will be hosting the annual community fall fair.
Meanwhile, just a short hop and a skip away from town is the Bergen Farmers’ Market, an outdoor market which is held at the Bergen community hall south of Sundre down Highway 760 and then west on Township Road 320 for a brief spell until the no-exit turnoff for Range Road 53C. The weekly market is held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Sept. 14.
And new this season is the West Side Pop Up Market that was set up by the Town of Sundre, which started its inaugural run on Thursday, Aug. 1 and ends Sept. 5.
This outdoor market is set up on the green space at the west side boulevard across the street from the town office south of Highway 27 along the multi-use asphalt path, which provides an ideal and accessible location both for visitors travelling through town with trailers as well as residents who are either walking with strollers or even biking.
