Sundre Bike n’ Ski Club program introduces youth to cross-country skiing

Participants get a chance to learn entry-level cross-country ski techniques or given opportunity to further develop existing abilities

SUNDRE – About two dozen youths were recently introduced either to entry-level cross-country ski skills or given the opportunity to further develop existing abilities.

The Sundre Bike n’ Ski Club got its Jackrabbits cross-country skiing program started earlier this month at the Sundre Rodeo Grounds.

The sizeable group that came out on Sunday, Jan. 15 was split into two, with less experienced skiers learning the basics on a course at the Sundre Rodeo Grounds, while the more advanced challenged themselves surmounting and descending the slopes at Snake Hill.

Weather and conditions permitting, the program will continue to run Sunday afternoons starting at 2 p.m. until there is no longer enough snow to keep going.
