SUNDRE – A record warm spell continues across Alberta.
The Sundre area was among several locations in Alberta to hit a record high temperature Tuesday but it wasn’t the area’s only such feat of the week.
According to Environment Canada's weather summary issued Wednesday, the temperature rose to 14.9 C at the Sundre Airport on Jan. 30.
That’s a new record for the date, the agency noted, since records in the area started being kept in 1993.
The previous record high for the area on Jan. 30 was 10.8 C set in 2009.
A day previous on Jan. 29, the temperature at the Sundre Airport rose to 13.1 C, beating the previous record for that date as well.
The following areas in Alberta also set a daily maximum temperature record on Tuesday, Jan. 30, according to Environment Canada (temperature values given in degrees Celsius):
• Airdrie area - New record of 15.4. Old record of 14.4 set in 1993. Records in this area have been kept since 1881.
• Banff area - New record of 11.5. Old record of 10.0 set in 1962. Records in this area have been kept since 1887.
• Bow Island area - New record of 15.4. Old record of 14.4 set in 1962. Records in this area have been kept since 1961.
• Bow Valley Provincial Park area - New record of 14.5. Old record of 14.4 set in 1962. Records in this area have been kept since 1928.
• Breton area - New record of 12.9. Old record of 11.0 set in 1992. Records in this area have been kept since 1939.
• Calgary area - New record of 14.5. Old record of 14.4 set in 1993. Records in this area have been kept since 1881.
• Crowsnest area - New record of 11.5. Old record of 8.0 set in 1989. Records in this area have been kept since 1965.
