Almost 100 people have already confirmed their intent to participate at event being held at Sundre United Church

SUNDRE – Aspiring singers hoping to fine tune their voices, as well as those with some prior choir experience who might be looking for additional practice, will get the chance to do just that.

As of earlier this month, almost 100 people had already confirmed their intention to participate on the evening of Tuesday, June 18 in an event for the community that will be held at the Sundre United Church under the direction of Theresa Wasden.

“We’ve had several choir members come to us saying they would like to keep singing as they miss practising,” said Pauline Blech, Sundre Community Choir manager.

“With this, we decided we would do a one night sing-along,” Blech told the Albertan.

“We are going to learn a complete song in one night,” she said, adding there will also be the “musical accompaniment of piano, guitar and drums.”

Open to all ages as well as voice ranges and experience, the event is also about offering a no-pressure opportunity to learn and there will be no auditions or formal, final performance.

“There will be no concert, just a fun night of singing,” said Blech.

There will also be an element of surprise.

“No one knows the song that has been picked,” she said.

Some of the registered participants are coming out from as far away as Sylvan Lake and Camrose.

Beyond providing an opportunity for aspiring singers to hone their vocal cords, the evening will also offer a chance to socialize over some refreshments and snacks.

“It will be an evening of friendship, fellowship and entertainment,” said Blech, adding earlier this month that the event was “filling up quickly.”

Anyone who might be interested in getting involved is invited to connect with Blech through email at [email protected] by Monday, June 17.
