Sundre community service group seeks support with a smile

Sundre's Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society holds annual Charity Check Stop fundraiser, bringing in a little more than $10,000

SUNDRE – A local community service group's main annual fundraiser recently brought in a respectable sum to help support the continued delivery of its programs and initiatives.

Sundre's Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society, in support with local volunteers including members of the Sundre Fire Department, RCMP, and the municipality's peace officer, conducted its annual Charity Check Stop on Friday, June 2 along the Highway 27-Main Avenue corridor in front of Freson Bros.

This year’s tally came out to more than $10,600, with proceeds from what is usually the group’s main fundraiser of the year supporting the continued delivery of the society’s services and programs, said Sari Werezak, GNP’s executive director, adding the amount raised was roughly on par with previous years.
