SUNDRE — A date has been set at the end of May for a special meeting of council to participate in a joint public hearing about the ongoing effort to update the intermunicipal development plan with Mountain View County.
Linda Nelson, chief administration officer, told council during the regular April 26 meeting conducted by teleconference, that the municipality has been working in tandem with its county counterparts toward updating the document, as per Municipal Government Act requirements.
Originally adopted by both councils in 2010, the existing plan has since become outdated and in need of revision, reads additional background information in council’s agenda package.
The revised planning tool, which is to be adopted by both county and town councils, outlines a framework to address land use, growth, and development along adjacent boundary areas, Nelson said.
County council, she added, was also expected to approve the bylaw’s first reading.
“We are further requesting that the Town of Sundre council set Wednesday, May 26 at 1 p.m. for a special meeting of council for the joint public hearing for the bylaw,” she said.
Coun. Cheri Funke’s two motions, one to give the bylaw first reading and another to set the public hearing’s date, carried without opposition.
Mountain View County council gave first reading to the plan bylaw on April 28 and set the May 26 joint public hearing date.
