Sundre Curling Club's annual ladies’ bonspiel was busy

Event brought out 16 teams including visitors from Rocky Mountain House, Cremona and Cochrane

SUNDRE – The Sundre Curling Club hosted 16 teams during the annual ladies’ bonspiel.

“It was a busy weekend,” said Kris Burkholder, club member and one of the organizers.

The bonspiel started on Friday, Feb. 14 with finals wrapping up on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Joining the local rinks were two visiting teams from Rocky Mountain House as well as one from Cochrane and another from Cremona, said Burkholder.

There was also a silent auction featuring a variety of items made by local craftspeople, she said.

The organizer expressed gratitude to all of the teams who entered this year’s event and said it was a wonderful group.

The A Event winners were skip Marnie Shipley, third Cindy Mintenko-Blackman, second Alicia Brooks and lead Kelly Burton.

Taking the B Event were skip Renee Gibson, third Peggy Kadey, second Loris Wyhony and lead Danielle Holowcznsky.

The C event was won by skip Darlene Kapiczowski, third Melonee Rose, second Jill Ward and lead Zoey Shpak.
