Sundre firefighters honoured for milestone emergency service

SUNDRE – Members of the Sundre Fire Department recently gathered for the annual service awards dinner.

Mayor Richard Warnock and Sundre’s chief administrative officer Linda Nelson joined the members at the hall on Saturday, Feb. 8 for an evening to celebrate the incalculable contributions of the community’s firefighters.

“Their unwavering commitment and the sacrifices they make each day often go unnoticed, and this event is all about honouring them for their hard work and dedication,” reads a statement posted by the Sundre Fire Rescue Society.

Among the members recognized were: deputy fire chief Dave Bennett, who later this October will be reaching 30 years of service; deputy fire chief Alex Clews, who in July will reach 15 years of service; firefighter Ronnie Richardson, who in August will reach 20 years of service; captain Ryan Martens, who in September will have completed 10 years of service; captain Matt Heinz, five years of service; lieutenant Scott Parker, who in August will reach five years; firefighter Jeremy Logan, who in September will finish five years; firefighter Rodney MacVicar, one year; and firefighter Sam Johnston, who in July will be celebrating two years of service.
