SUNDRE – The local high school has for the second year in a row received proceeds from the Corey Beaver Memorial Golf Tournament.

Courtesy of a $3,000 donation, the Sundre High School’s golf team will get a boost offsetting the expenses involved in playing the sport.

Beaver was the assistant golf professional at the Sundre Golf Club for four years before he suddenly passed away in May of 2021.

Since golf was among his core passions, the idea came about to host a memorial tournament in his honour as a way to remember him.

“It was such an amazing turnout that we decided to continue it each year,” Fiona Hooch-Antink, an organizer of the memorial golf tournament, wrote in a statement.

“We hope this money inspires the younger generation to continue with the sport that made Corey part of who he was.”
