Sundre High School hosts divisional cross-country meet

Students from Chinook's Edge School Division south participate in races at Sundre's Snake Hill to qualify for upcoming zones

SUNDRE – Student athletes from throughout Chinook's Edge School Division south came out last week to participate in a divisional cross-country meet.

Sundre High School and River Valley School hosted the event on Wednesday, Oct. 4, with courses set up at Snake Hill featuring varying lengths depending on age categories.

Although a heavy cloud cover lingered in the sky, early-morning rains cleared up ahead of races.

As a divisional event, students came out to Sundre High School from Cremona, Hugh Sutherland, River Valley School, Didsbury High, Westglen, Olds High, Deer Meadow as well as Olds Koinonia, said Ashley Bellamy, athletic director at Sundre high.

There were 18 athletes from Sundre High School participating, all of whom will be moving onto zones, she said.

Zones will be held today, Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the Trochu Golf and Country Club, with the top contenders from that event qualifying to move onto provincials that are scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 14 also in Trochu.
