SUNDRE — Local Mounties are asking the public to check security footage after thieves gained access to the FasGas and stole the automated banking machine.

The Sundre RCMP detachment reported that the theft occurred some time after midnight on Sunday, Feb. 27 and before 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28.

“We are asking for people to start looking at their security footage for any unusual activity,” said Sgt. Trent Sperlie.

Although police tape barred entry to the gas station and convenience store, there was no obvious damage to the front doors, and the sergeant couldn’t immediately say how the culprits gained access to the building or how they made off with the ATM.

Sperlie added the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact either the Sundre RCMP at 403-638-3655 or their local police. Callers who prefer to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), submit information online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the P3 Tips app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
