SUNDRE – Police are looking for leads following a break and enter at a rural property where suspects abandoned a vehicle stolen from Edmonton in exchange for another vehicle.

The Sundre RCMP department reported having received at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 a call from property owners on Range Road 42 who said they came home to find a vehicle they did not recognize parked and running idle on their driveway. They also noticed one of their vehicles was missing from the garage, reads a portion of a press release issued earlier today.

Members who attended the scene proceeded to clear the residence in the event any suspects were still on the premise or in the vicinity, but officers determined they had left.

Police said the vehicle that was found at the scene – a white 1993 GMC Sierra with Alberta licence plate CMC5770 – was confirmed as having been stolen from Edmonton on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Asked if the owners had already been tracked down and the vehicle returned, Sgt. Trent Sperlie, the detachment's commander, said, "That's still part of the investigation. But yes, notification would be made to the owner in cases such as this."

The vehicle that was reported stolen from the scene is a grey 2009 Chevrolet Silverado with Alberta licence plate BWY9235.

Anyone who saw these vehicles or might have captured video footage on either surveillance or dash cam, is asked to contact the Sundre RCMP at 403-638-3675.

Alternatively, information may also be provided anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the P3 Tips app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.  Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards anonymously for information that leads to an arrest.
