Sundre RCMP seek info on oilfield site break-ins

Detachment provides report recapping highlights of calls received in Sundre service area for the week between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6

SUNDRE – Local Mounties encourage anyone with information regarding several recent oilfield site break-ins to contact either the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Sgt. Randy Poon, the Sundre RCMP detachment’s acting commander, provided the Albertan with a report recapping highlights of notable occurrences members responded to during the week between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6, when the department counted 41 files overall:

• Several reports of fireworks going off at Snake Hill. RCMP members made patrols through the week both days and nights. Some youths involved were located. Youths were warned of the dangers of such activity and parents spoken to about the activity.

• Members located a stray dog and subsequently took the animal to Mountain View Pet Resort. The dog was eventually reunited with its owner.

• Two collisions with a deer and one private property collision, none of which resulted in any injuries.

• Several break and enters at oilfield sites in Mountain View County at the following locations: Taqa site near Bearberry along Highway 584 west of Sundre; business along Highway 22 north of Sundre; and the Taqa north compressor site north of the James River Bridge along Highway 22.

• Theft of motor vehicle north of Sundre on Highway 22.

Additionally, members continue to proactively patrol roads for unsafe motorists, and throughout the week issued six violation tickets – four for speeding and two for non-moving. There were also seven warning violation notices issued – two for speeding and six, non-moving document offences.
