SUNDRE – Local and surrounding area residents on the prowl for employment, including high school students, recently had an opportunity to do an application blitz.
The Sundre High School hosted on Thursday, April 25 a community job fair that got started with a portion that was available exclusively for adolescents before later opening to all job seekers in the community.
While some local businesses set up booths and were accepting applications, there were also some summertime working opportunities with non-profit organizations including the volunteer-run Aspen Ranch Outdoor Education Centre as well as the Sundre Municipal Library. Not-for-profit organizations like the ranch and library are able to apply for federal funding for part-time summer employees through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
The community job fair was made possible courtesy of partnerships among local organizations including Greenwood Neighbourhood Place, the Sundre and District Chamber of Commerce, Sundre High School, as well as The Den – Sundre Youth Centre.
