Dean Pickering, the Town of Sundre's chief administrative officer, is away indefinitely on medical leave.
He was away all of last week and it is unknown when he will be able to return.
“I really can't say, and I really can't discuss his personal medical conditions,” said Mayor Annette Clews.
“Council will be meeting Monday night (yesterday) to talk about an interim CAO until he is able to return,” she said Friday.
In the meantime, Wanda Watson-Neufeld, the town's director of corporate services, is covering the position.
