Toy Story-themed carnival marks Sundre Skating Club season's end

Approximately 150 people came out to Sundre Arena for the annual year-end windup featuring variety of group and solo performances

SUNDRE – Members of the Sundre Skating Club went to infinity and beyond this past weekend.

The skaters performed a variety of solo and group routines on Sunday, March 16 at the Sundre Arena during the club's annual season wind-up ice carnival, whose theme this year was A Toy Story Adventure.

Head instructor Lyndsay Edgar estimated that approximately 150 people came out for the carnival, which included a guest appearance by members of the Onyx Ice Pre-Novice Synchronized Skating Team from the Carstairs Skating Club, who performed an elegant demonstration of their talent.

"It was a busy yet amazing year with our club almost doubling in size," said Edgar.

"It was great watching every single skater improve and learn new skills," she said.

The Star Skate program's members attended three fun meets in Carstairs, Olds and Innisfail, where they "represented our club and town well."

And while their 2024-25 season might already be over, they're already looking forward to what comes next.

"We as a club are already in talks about next year in hopes to making it even better!"
