SUNDRE – The traffic lights at the intersection of Centre Street and the Highway 27-Main Avenue corridor in Sundre have been temporarily switched off and replaced with a stop sign to accommodate the municipality’s overhaul of underground infrastructure as construction work progresses onto the east side of town.

Meanwhile, mobile trailer-mounted sets of lights have for the interim been put in place immediately east of the main intersection as well as the intersection at 3rd Street to control east- and west-bound traffic with only one lane open at a time.

Jim Hall, the Town of Sundre's operations manager, said crews are working hard to complete the work by mid-June, but added weather conditions and any emergent “technical underground issues that we discover as we move eastward will dictate the timeline.”
