Sundre RCMP officers have determined through video footage that two as yet unidentifiable males were involved in the vehicle break-in frenzy last week.
“Through our investigation we were able to obtain some video of people in the area where some of these break and enters were occurring,” said Cst. Earl Hutchinson.
“The video shows two male subjects but based on the quality of the video, we were unable to determine who they were,” he said.
The incident occurred during the evening of May 26 and into the early morning of May 27.
“The males targeted unlocked motor vehicles throughout the town of Sundre and stole various items, cash, credit cards and garage door openers,” said Cpl. Ryan Hodge.
“Many of the stolen wallets and purses have been recovered and numerous people have reported similar incidents to the Sundre RCMP,” he said.
There were more than 10 vehicles broken into, which he says is rare for Sundre. Although the majority of vehicles were unlocked, at least one victim said hers was not.
“Members of the Sundre RCMP would like to remind people to not store valuable items inside motor vehicles and to ensure that their vehicles are locked,” he said.
“Doors on houses, garages and other buildings should also be locked to help deter criminals looking for easy opportunities to commit thefts.”
The investigation is still ongoing and Sundre RCMP officers are asking for anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact the detachment at 403-638-3675.
