SUNDRE – A portion of Highway 22 north of Sundre reopened early Sunday after being closed due to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) Saturday.
The province’s travel advisory service, 511 Alberta, posted at 1:29 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 that Highway 22 at Township Road 343 had reopened to traffic.
“MVC has been cleared,” the travel advisory service noted early Sunday morning.
On Saturday evening, RCMP said a collision on Highway 22 north of Sundre was affecting traffic.
“Sundre RCMP is currently on scene at a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 22 at Highway 587 (at the river). Traffic cannot get through the area at this time. Please take an alternate route,” police said in a press release issued just after 6 p.m. Oct. 26. “An update will be sent when more information becomes available.”
A 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, 511 Alberta noted that Township Road 343 north of Sundre was closed due to a motor vehicle collision.
“Use an alternate route,” it advised.
Highway 22 intersects Township Road 343 just north of the bridge over the James River.
RCMP had not issued an update as of 5:50 p.m. Sunday.
