BOWDEN — Ty and Gail Northcott of Red Deer County, charged with violating the Public Health Act by holding a rodeo rally in defiance of Alberta Health Services COVID-19 restrictions, are going to trial.
Their trial is set for Dec. 21 this year in Red Deer provincial court. That decision was made after a court appearance June 23.
The Northcotts were charged with violating the Public Health Act after they held a rodeo on private property on May 1 and 2 just south of Bowden, which was billed as the No More Lockdowns Rodeo Rally.
It attracted hundreds, if not thousands of rodeo fans and political sympathizers.
They had also planned to hold a similar event on June 5 and 6 against COVID-19 restrictions dubbed the "No More Jason Kenney Pro Rodeo Rally.”
But on Facebook, they said it had been postponed after the couple was served with a court injunction from Court of Queen’s Bench to prevent that ahead from going ahead.
