With 18 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines expected to arrive in Canada in July, the country will have enough doses to fully vaccinate all 33.2 million Canadians over the age of 12.

“Some golfers had seen a calf run out onto the course and right behind it was one of the yearling cubs, and it nailed the calf and took it down right in front of them,” said Blair Fyten, a human-wildlife co-existence specialist with Banff National Park.

The B.C. Wildfire Service said 196 active wildfires are currently burning in B.C., with at least 40 sparked over the weekend.

Cliff Chapman, director of provincial operations for the B.C. Wildfire Service, says the recent wave of extreme heat has created conditions for a "significant spread" of wildfires, with the potential for 1,000 square kilometres to burn by the end of the weekend.

Canadian Pacific Railway says the cause of the derailment is under investigation.

A federal-provincial public inquiry into the April 2020 mass killing is expected to begin hearings in October.

The Lytton Creek wildfire that burned the village was still listed as out of control on Friday morning and was about 64 square kilometres in size.

"I think it's an unfortunate way for people to be expressing their opinions today. This is a day for happiness and celebration, a day for family so it's an unfortunate way for them to be expressing that," said Tyler Shandro.
