It took Canada more than four months to get an initial dose to the first 12 million Canadians. The second 12 million got their first dose in just 43 days.

Canada's chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam says the variant is a concern because one dose of vaccine isn't as effective against it.

The company that owns the mine said Friday it's considering the 680-page report to better understand its conclusion.

"No more bans on indoor social gatherings. No more limits for gyms, sports, and fitness activities. No more capacity limits at restaurants, in retail or for places of worship. No more advisories against non-essential travel."

Health Minister Tyler Shandro says people who received their first dose in May are now eligible to book their second doses.

The panel advised federal Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson to turn the mine down. It has also denied the project's permit applications under provincial laws.

OTTAWA — Travel restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border will remain in place for at least another month.

One patient had received two doses of an mRNA vaccine and the other had not been immunized.

"For those projects that do have the potential to release selenium into waterbodies, I will be designating all such projects going forward for a federal review and assessment," said federal Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson.

The ecological consulting firm hired by landowners near where coal mines are being explored, says current methods to remove toxins such as selenium from water flowing over mine sites are unproven over long periods of time and large areas.
