BOWDEN — In late September, new welcome to Bowden signs will be delivered and installed at three entrances to the community.
Greg Skotheim, the town's chief administrative officer, says the new signs, expected to cost a total of about $40,000, will be made of rock and brushed aluminum and will be “maintenance-free.”
They’ll replace three existing signs at those entrances that are about 30 years old.
“It’s a priority of our economic development committee and council to replace these 30-year-old signs,” Skotheim said during an interview.
“They’re unrepairable, they’re outdated and they don’t look very good at all. But they’ve served their purpose.”
It's also a chance to incorporate the town's new logo, created a couple of years ago, into its entrance signs, he said.
The town sent out requests for proposals for the signs. A couple of companies responded. Now council and administrative staff are deciding which one will get the work.
Also by late September, the town hopes to have a new website and app created.
They’re being created by All-Net, a Manitoba company.
The decision to have that work done was also driven by council and its economic development committee.
